People Who Attend Prep Schools!

Hello, for those of you who attend prep schools, preferably Phillips Academy Andover or Phillips Exeter Academy, tell me a little bit about their EC's and grades and stuff. What I mean by that is to just give me practically EVERYTHING you've done so I can know, somewhat, what kind of students these schools accept thank you so much.

We’re talking about schools here that offer upwards of 60 extracurricular-type activities each, not to mention all of the elective community service that goes on off-campus. I don’t go to either of the schools yet, but what I can tell you is this: neither Andover nor Exeter would call their student bodies narrow. Both schools have students from across the US and from 30+ different countries around the world - students who participate in every activity imaginable and have every conceivable interest.

There are only a few criteria that all (or the great majority) students at the schools you mentioned adhere to:

They are academically strong

They participate in extracurriculars dedicatedly and/or at a high level

They are intellectual and interesting to talk to.

The moral of the story is that there is no particular mould that these schools require or recruit to; you need to carve your own path and show that you are successful at doing so.

I would also say that not only are they motivated and curious students, they seek students with good, strong character and are dedicated to personal growth.

Strong moral character was mentioned specifically in my son’s acceptance letter to Exeter
Also, finding a way to demonstrate leadership is a major plus if not a must.

Demonstrated interest in the school you are applying to - what can you bring to the community in terms of scholar, athlete, character, etc. - a passion in something, with a dedication to academics.
