Is it common to carry pepper spray on campus, or is it contraband because it is a weapon?

Pepper spray is legal to carry in California if you’re over 18. Here’s an article about it: [Daily Trojan - Pepper spray: Armed and dangerous?](http://www.dailytrojan.com/news/pepper-spray-armed-and-dangerous-1.207161)

Well, I guess pepper spray is out. I won’t hit 18 for another year.

The linked article did make me want to carry all the more.

Really, it’s not as dangerous as everyone says it is. I have never felt unsafe on campus, and off campus, just travel with a group of friends. Almost all of the crime near campus is directed against single people with no companions, while the criminals operate in groups of two or three.

I like carrying around a 4" blade. Just whip it in front of you, close your eyes, and run toward the person while yelling “ARGGGG AAHHHHHH BEEEEYAATTCHHH”

you should always carry pepperspray regardless…i carry mine on my keychain
or maybe thats just me …a small slim gay boy who walks to his car at 3 am after clubs are over with hehe

Would there really be a problem with a college student under 18 carrying pepper spray? Or is it theoretical?

As is the case with everything illegal, no problem whatsoever as long as you don’t get caught :D. If you use it in a life threatening situation I don’t think anyone would care, but if you spray it on your boy/girlfriend because she/he had a hangover and puked on your fuzzy slippers there may be undesirable consequences.

I did buy a small one for my daughter last year, she tells me that it was in her room most of the time.

Pepper Spray is really unnecessary, USC is not located in Compton.
