Pepperdine Merit Scholarships

I have tried researching merit scholarships/finaid around the internet and in the Pepperdine threads on CC but haven't been able to gather much info.

Anyone have any insight/experience with the aid or scholarships that Pepperdine has given to students in the past?

I have received some Presidential and Trustee scholarships from some private religious schools already so I'm wondering if I can get a significant amount of aid at Pepperdine with my stats. I'd love to consider Pepperdine but it is definitely very expensive. Not sure if I can get much finaid either with my parents combined income. I have a 4.0 UW, ~4.5 W GPA and a 2050 SAT. 12 AP classes, most others are honors. Lots of volunteer work and leadership. I'm in the top 1-2% of my class of 500 students.

Thanks in advance to anyone with some info!

Pepperdine offers the Regents (26k) and Deans (22k?) scholarships, which are chosen from the top 10% of the entering class. Judging by your stats, you could probably get the Deans–but it all depends on the applicant pool this year. CoC members can apply for an 8k scholarship, which is completely separate. Other than that, pray for good need-based aid! ;)

I’m in the same situation as you, applying for fall but with a lower GPA and higher SAT. If only tuition weren’t SO expensive…/:

Thanks! Do they give scholarship notice with admissions results in March? Definitely praying for a miracle since I don’t think I qualify for need based aid  PU might be a cheaper alternative than my state school (UW) with tuition hikes and no merit aid/finaid. Good luck to you :)

Pepperdine’s “official” admission notification is April 1st, but as you mentioned they usually send emails around mid-March. I believe financial aid info comes out on April 15th or something, it should be on the website. But you find out if you’re accepted first…something tells me they do that on purpose so more people will consider it lol. I’ve decided not to worry. If God wants me at Pepperdine, He will provide. The same goes for you. I’ve heard great things about UW as well. Good luck!!

Wanted to mention, my D had similar stats ( BUT NOT 12 AP’s; went to a tiny Christian school; class of 84 students, that did not even offer 12 AP’s! ). Anyway, she got no merit there. Back then (HS class '08) they did not use the common app, and the essays (I think there were three), were fairly intense.

Your stats are awesome, and things may be different, but do be aware that stats may not tell the whole story at Pepperdine. Pay attention to to EC’s and essays.

My essays are really strong and I have had many teachers and counselors read over them. All my essays show my personality and dedication to service and scholarship well I think. My supplemental essay about my Christian faith isnt too shabby either if I do say so myself haha. So I think I can show I’m more than just some stats.
