scholarships

does pepperdine offer any scholarships solely based on merit/academics? if so; what are they? if not; im screwed lol.

The highest academic scholarship is the Regents Scholarship, which is for 20k a year, for four years. This past year they awarded 30 Regents Scholarships - I don't know if the number's constant, or fluxuates each year. I know there are other academic scholarships as well, but I don't know any details on them.

are my stats promising for a scholarship?

ACT-33
SAT-2100(can improve?)
GPA-4.8 weighted
Rank-6/646
EC's good; essays great

I'd say you look good; your scores and GPA are all higher than mine (29 ACT, 2030 SAT), and I got Regents. They never told us the specifics the scholarship is awarded on, just that it's academic based, so I don't know if they take anything else into account or not.

Church of Christ affiliation seems to help too.

I believe there are $17K merit scholarships awarded in addition to the $22K top scholarships.

Um does your scholarship notification come with your letter? I have a 2300 SAT and A's/A-'s at a top New England boarding school, plus I'm supposedly a speech team recruit. I thought I would be in contention for a scholarship at least...I applied BEFORE the priority deadline too...

I was told that the scholarship is based strictly on a combination of your test scores and GPA. Don't know if they use weighted or non weighted. I would assume unweighted (4.0 scale) since every school seems to weight grades differently.

ennaxor that is good news that you got regents. I'm hoping my daughter gets it as Pepperdine is her top choice. Don't know if I can justify 45K/year, when other schools have offered merit scholarships if she doesn't get Regents.

Caliboi1313, glad to see some other Chicago area kids considering Pepperdine!!

No, I didn't get any scholarship information with the initial acceptance.

Last year I received the acceptance letter on a Friday, and early the next week (Monday or Tuesday) I got a phone call from Pepperdine telling me I was given the Regents Scholarship. I think a few days after that I got a letter specifically informing me about Regents, and then I didn't hear any more about other scholarships (such as the small ones I got for being Church of Christ) until I got my financial package letter, which was a couple weeks later.

I got Regent's
ACT 34
SAT 2110
GPA 4.0 unweighted
Rank 2/450ish

We're pretty similar on stats, so i'd say you've got good chances

NewWave,

Did you get a phone call or letter? If a letter, what state are you in? D is waiting to hear about the Regents before she commits to Malibu Reception. Hopefully, we'll hear soon!!

I hope I get a good scholarship. It's the only way I would go to Pepperdine.

What are your stats like Piano?

I have a 4.3 GPA and a 29 ACT.

Your number are consistent with those that got the scholarship last year. Good Luck to you!!

Thank you, and good luck to your daughter as well.

I got a Regent's scholarship as an incoming freshman this year.

I still haven't heard anything... just great. Probably didn't even get anything.

I got Regents...2300 SAT (800 cr/770m/730 w (79mc/8 essay)), Subject tests: 800 Spanish 800 Latin 790 US History. 5's on US History, English Lit English Lang, Spanish Lang and Latin: Vergil AP's (no other AP's taken.) NE Prep school (so no GPA/class rank etc.) Deciding between Duke and Pepperdine. U Penn and Rice are pretty much out of the running, but that's just my thought today. U Miami's been out of the running pretty much since day 1 ;-) .
