Campus, weather, location, athletics, housing/food, the student body, and academic strength in my major (business) all seem to be very similar at these two schools.

But what about social life, campus strictness, and overall atmosphere?

Which school seems the most lenient towards partying?

Which school's atmosphere is more social? Do USD students party harder than Pepperdines? Or is it about equal?

At both schools, you have a very wealthy student body.

University of San Diego is decent, but not great. There are some talented students on large scholarships, but a lot of the people aren’t great students.

The social life is good at both schools. Almost everyone lives on campus at Pepperdine and USD. Pepperdine's atmosphere is very conservative, but that's mostly the administration. While many of the students are religious, they still like to party.

USD and it’s not even close.

Both have a good social life. Pepperdine students usually party off campus. Either house parties or at club/bars in Malibu. Some go to Hollywood to party.

What school would you attend and why?
[/quote]
Despite Pepperdine’s good academic reputation, I just couldn’t see myself going there. I’m not a religious person and the school is very strict in regards to party. Pepperdine makes you take a lot of religion classes and I wouldn’t want that being forced upon me.

Which school would you say is more laid-back. I have been to Pepperdine and everyone is really chill and friendly. So how does that compare with USD?

USD has serious students but is very strict. Freshman are written up often if there is alcohol in your room so students party at the beach off campus which creates more issues. Two students were raped at a beach party last year and their boy friends badly beaten. Because it is aCatholic school you can not get birth control on campus. There is not much of an on campus community because San Diego has so much to offer which is great but does not lend itself to that close knit campus atmosphere. My D transferred from USD, Pepperdine was her 1st choice but she did not get a scholarship there and no aid and USD was quite generous. She loved Pepperdine. The negative to Pepperdine supposedly was that the town of Malibu does not offer much to students and closes down at 10. It is sure beautiful there though. Both schools seem similar in many ways.
