<p>How do you convert a grade point average in percentage form to the standard GPA out of 4 points? What would a 90 be? A 97?</p>

<p>Our kids’ HS calculates GPA by percentage while the local university where some of the HS students take joint enrollment courses gives letter grades. The HS converts joint enrollment students’ university grades on the basis of A=95, B=85, C=75, etc.</p>
<p>i’ve seen so many scales, so i cant even figure out what standard is. someone told me a 90 is a 3.0? so confused.</p>
<p>An 80 is more like a 3.0.</p>

<p>I don’t think there is one standard chart. This is the conversion our guidance department told us to use. I’m not entirely sure where the pluses and minuses begin, so that part is a guess:</p>
<p>3.0 = 85 B</p>
<p>3.1 = 86 B</p>
<p>3.2= 87 B+</p>
<p>3.3 = 88 B+</p>
<p>3.4 = 89 B+</p>
<p>3.5 = 90 A-</p>
<p>3.6 = 91 A-</p>
<p>3.7 = 92 A-</p>
<p>3.8 = 93 A?</p>
<p>3.9 = 94 A</p>
<p>4.0 = 95 A</p>
<p>Just go down from 3.0 to get into the B- s and the Cs, and Ds.</p>
<p>in addition … the conversion should not be done on your overall average … it should be done course by course and then averaged … for example, here are couple students with a 91 average (I’ll skip pluses and minuses)</p>

<li><p>Using the overall conversion you’d get an A average so a 4.0</p></li>
<li><p>but say the individual courses are … 89, 93, 89, 93 … B, A, B, A … the GPA is 3.5 … this is the correct way to get to the GPA.</p></li>

<p>The trick is the conversion of your numeric grades … I’d start with your guidence folks asking if the have a conversion chart for your school.</p>

<p>That’s a good rough estimate, but you could have a 90 average, but every grade you got was a 90 then you would have a 4.0, on the other hand you could get half 100’s and half 80’s and this would give you a 90 average, however with this you would have a 3.5 gpa.</p>
<p>is there any universal chart? its so tricky because schools dont scale things the same way, and my school gives only weighted percents, so i have no idea where i rank on all of these college gpa websites talking about grades on the gpa scale.</p>
