Does anyone know what percent of EA applicants Tulane deferred this year? Does Tulane defer most of the students it doesn’t reject?
bump. Really want to know if most EA applicants are deferred.
i got rejected lmao but i think most were deferred
I’m sorry @bleedorangebaby. It’s a rough process. Hopefully we’ll get into places we love! Other schools have posted deferral rates. I’d love to know Tulane’s.
Tulane is a joke. They defer a huge percent. They don’t want to offer you a spot and have you decline the offer. Shame on them. And now their new game is to offer you to change your application from regular decision to Early Decision so it is binding. They are playing the stats and it is pathetic. It isn’t like they are some great school. I know people who were accepted to Vanderbilt and UNC that were deferred to Tulane. Sorry Tulane, not going to play your game.
The only reason I applied EA was because the admission counselor that came to my HS told us that " you have a wayyyy better chance of getting in if you apply early", which is demonstrably false. My guess is they accept a slim amount of target applicants for EA, and try to force as many high-level applicants as possible to go ED 2 by defering them. They seem to be playing the yield protection game to try and bolster their reputation. Higher # of applicants (Free app, insane amounts of junk mail/marketing) + lower acceptance rate (ED 1, ED 2 AND EA)= “a more competitive school”, on paper, at least.
OP, I am no expert. But I think the outcome for any college application is:
- accepted; or
- deferred; or
- wait listed; or
- rejected.
I think a “rejection” is pretty much final, and you really can’t resubmit, and colleges rarely consider an appeal. However, if one is deferred or wait listed, then you can do,things to bolster your application. You should ask your guidance counselor for some ideas, and even ask the experts here.
