How did you achieve a perfect score on the SAT? Also did you take any SAT subject test’s and if so, which ones?
We would be curious about reading as well. Our S19 does pretty well but tends to have difficulty when two questions are grouped together - the first one asking a question about the text and the second one showing the evidence. If you get one wrong, you get the second one wrong as well. Any tips?
I read really “slowly” so that i didn’t need to read it again. however, I always finished the section with around 10 minutes of extra time to check my answers.
Took math and chem got 800 math 2, 780 chem
Just make sure you get the first one right. if you are deciding between 2, maybe answer the first q as one and the second as another. this way you only miss 1 question. and you can miss 1 question and still get perfect
How did you study for the SAT subject tests? I want to take math level two and physics but I’m sure of what prep books to choose. Tips?
I just did the practice tests at the end of the barrons book for chem(there were 4 and I got around 650 on all of them), and for math i just searched sat 2 math study guide and found random websites online @dignacio
How’d you prepare in general. Did you study from books or khanacademy, and how much time did you spend each day?
I studied from books only, spent around 2 hours a day for a week and massively plowed through the practice tests.
I missed one math question on a particular SAT and got a 790 on the section so in some cases 1 question does mess you up. I tutor in the SAT and for the questions that ask for evidence, the question is always a basic recall question. You need an answer that very specifically answers the questions being asked and makes no inferences. For the evidence, don’t really pay too much attention to the answer you got for the first question, Instead, read the four excerpts and choose which one answers the question most efficiently, not the one that supports your answer necessarily. That way, you are not fully committing yourself to that answer and kind of double checking. @homerdog this may help
@a20171 very helpful. I’ll mention your tips to our S19. Makes a lot of sense that he would get these wrong since he tends to over analyze passages. I partly blame his teachers since that’s all they do is analyze and analyze. They never just read anymore!

Where did you get enough practice tests? I used various online ones for the PSAT and printed ones but had run out of practice tests. Also how did you manage the reading?
There are a lot of free SAT exams on the CollegeBoard website. I happened to find this out recently when I stumbled upon some Youtube math vids named Hope Academy SAT.
Did you take the SAT only one time? My d is taking it today and will likely take again in May, but since scores don’t come out until around mid April, I’m wondering how she should study for the next test?
Coming out of the test, did you feel confident? Did you feel that you got a very high score? Also, did you ever run out of time?
I took it only once, but I was planning to take it twice. She should try to take the tests fast. @fazevan
