Performing and Media Arts

If I were to submit an application to the CAS putting intention on majoring in performing and media arts, does this program have a bit of wiggle room for accepted GPA? (Like 3.7 UW, but good SAT~1500) and a lot of experience with theatre and related interests? (17-30+ hrs a week at theatre I’ve attended for 11 yrs, workshops and performances in NYC,working at a theatre etc…) I know for a lot of similar majors from other universities tend to admit lower stats, just because it’s not the only factor in success in this field. Is it the same case at Cornell?

All students entering Arts and Sciences begin as undeclared; that is, you’re not going to start as a PMA major. I believe you can state your intended major on the application, but in Arts and Sciences you won’t start out in that particular major. That being said, your GPA is fine, especially considering your extracurriculars. It’s clear you have a passion for theater and that can only help you going through with the application. In short, don’t worry.
