Perfume - do you still wear it (ladies > 50)?

Growing up, I always heard that women had a “signature scent”, and there were definitely fragrances I loved (Caleche, Chanel 19, Fracas) but now I find them cloying and heavy. Do you still wear perfume/scent? If so, what are your faves?

No. There are many places we go to that specifically ask that no “scents” be worn. At my school that was a policy. Doctors offices request this. I haven’t worn any kind of perfume in a very long time. I try to also use unscented deodorant and detergent.

Yes. I’ve always loved Calyx by Prescriptions. It is fresh and citrusy, and I love it! Will never give it up, I guess it’s my signature scent

Yes. I have a few I wear regularly. L’Heure Bleu by Guerlain, Burberry Woman, Burberry Brit and then a light scent from the Burren Perfumery called Spring Harvest. Not everyday, though because of covid.

Yes. Still do.I like Dior perfume. Over the years I used different lines but Dior is my preferred brand

Not for years. I do use deodorant that is scented.

When I lived in Spain (‘80s) everyone seemed to wear Eau de Rochas which you could not buy in the US. I would buy bottles of this and wore it for years.

After kids, I stopped wearing perfume but then started wearing perfume maybe 5 years ago. I wear Hermès Un Jardine de Meditterane which has a fig scent. Then COVID hit and I stopped wearing makeup, hair products and perfume for months. I am still working from home and don’t really venture out during the week. On the weekends, maybe I will put some perfume on. I was shopping in Chicago and there was a cute little store that had some inexpensive perfume from Paddywax. It was fig-scented again- called Black Fig and Vetiver. I almost like it better than my $$$ Hermès.

I have used Philosophy Pure Grace for many years. It doesn’t have much of a smell, just kind of clean. I also use Hesperides Grapefruit during warmer months. I really don’t like strong perfume smells, and both of these are very subtle.
A couple of years ago I asked for Joe Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt, but I couldn’t wear it - it was too strong.

I still wear it - either Sung or Dkny be delicious.

Nope—I and too many of my loved ones have scent allergies so I avoid scents for everything we can.

I wear Jo Malone, Amber & Lavender. It’s kind of a unisex scent.

I just like a body spray- not a full on perfume. Or Eau du toilette. Fragonard Jasmin is a favorite. A spritz after shower and a spritz once dressed.

I hate scent – perfume, cologne, scented deodorant, scented detergent, scented dryer sheets, scented candles . . . . I could go on. I hate all of it. It makes me sneeze and irritates my eyes.

I told my husband that if he ever buys me perfume, we’re getting divorced.

My mother had allergies and was very sensitive to scents, so I never got in the habit.

I wear perfume everyday. Tried a few early along the way but it’s been Shalimar for decades. My mom and my grandmother both wore it too and I just love the scent.

Well if I am exposed to perfume I end up in the ER. I actually had continuous vomiting the last time with severe vertigo. I know others with severe reactions.

No, and personally, I can’t stand being around people who do wear fragrances. I get an instant, strong headache that lasts for hours. I own no perfume and use almost all unscented products at home. I can’t even walk down the laundry detergent aisle in the store.

I have loved perfume since I was a child, and own a large number of fragrances. I don’t have a signature scent; I wear whatever suits my mood on any given day.

I wear fragrance lightly. You’d have to get up close to me to smell it. I never wear it in situations where people might be stuck sitting next to me (church, public transportation, theater/cinema etc.) and never to a medical appointment or when visiting anyone who is unwell (before Covid, of course).
