Perhaps I'm being neurotic, but . . .

First of all, hopefully this will be the last time I plague the Smith boards with my frantic worried questions. I recently received my acceptance to Smith as a transfer student. I got my acceptance late because I didn't submit my application 'til after the priority deadline.

Well, since it was so late, I actually had sent a deposit in to Temple University because I wanted to play it safe (plus their response deadline was May 1 and I wouldn't hear from Smith 'til June 2), especially since I was rejected at Barnard and waitlisted at Mt. Holyoke. I was just getting ready to put my acceptance card and check for Smith into the envelope when I took a look at the conditions under which Smith would be allowed to withdraw my acceptance. One of them was if you are already holding a place at another college. So I'm really really really worried about this. I still haven't withdrawn from Temple as they are taking their time getting back to me about that. I'm just concerned that Smith will also rescind my acceptance there when they see that I'm also set to enroll at Temple.

So my question for all of you is is this a valid concern or am I just obsessing (again)?

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You're planning on withdrawing from Temple, and I think that clause is more to avoid people holding a spot at Smith "just in case" they change their mind about a school they're already enrolled in, when that Smith spot could go to someone who really wants it. If it becomes a problem, just explain to the admissions officers at Smith exactly what you explained to us. You put in a deposit to be safe, you're in the process of withdrawing it, and you just haven't gotten through to Temple yet. Simple.

What S&P says makes sense and is probably right. But to be safe, and for your own peace of mind, it wouldn't hurt to contact the admissions department on a matter this important.

Hi, thanks guys for the reassurance. I received an e-mail from Temple yesterday and hopefully everything has been taken care of. I'm saving the e-mail, though, just in case. ^^
