Permission to Laugh at Me

So. I just submitted all my applications to graduate schools for MLIS. I checked the little "integrity" boxes, submitted my payment information, and proudly reviewed my completed applications...including one with a happy little box that boasts a 4.83 GPA on a 4.00 scale.

This is where I whacked myself upside the head. Yes, it is possible, though not very effective.

I doubt it will be a big deal, and I sent an email to the institution so it can be remedied before review, but it does look kind of funny for an aspiring librarian to have such fantastic attention to detail.

"Great Expectations? That's 823.8. Adult Fiction is to your right." [half an hour later, a very confused patron wanders back to the desk...] "Did I say 823.8? Oops, verbal typo. I meant 723.8. My bad."

I think you're worrying for nothing. Any admission official who looks at your application and says "A 4.83 GPA! But that's IMPOSSIBLE!" without realizing it's nothing more than a typo is an idiot.

I wouldn't worry about this one. I

But I'm not worrying. I just thought it was funny because I'm applying to train to be a categorizer...with lots of numbers I could mess up like that. It's along the lines of, "My attention to detail and extensive writing experience would make me a valuable addition to AnyU's Engish department." Or, "I spent two years aiding in the research of Professor Impressive-Sounding-Name, and another under Professor Even-More-Impressive. I believe these four years of experience have well prepared me for a future in mathematics."
