Show up even later lol. I wouldn't come till at least 0900 if I were you.

What if we WERE to show up earlier? Would we just be standing around waiting? I know we'd be the first ones to get yelled at....

Ya, you'd have fresh cadre with all their energy, stand waiting a lot, etc etc. It's best to wait.

Hmm, makes sence, but won't we have Cadre ready to yell at us and stuff anyway? To me, it seems like it would be better to go ahead and get there around 8:00, have smaller waiting lines for stuff, and not be thinking while I'm waiting, "oh man, they're going to start yelling at us soon". Better to just dive in and get the initial shock over with (from what I've heard, EVERYONE has some intial shock once the yelling starts). That's each person's own personal decision though.

We entered from the north gate. Your letter might get you in the south gate, though. I'm not sure there really is any "best" time to show up. We got there some time after nine. Lines were really long, but we enjoyed visiting and eyeballing the crowd. Cadets were giving demonstrations of the falcon mascots and answering questions. Definitely don't cheat on sleep just to get there early. A good night's rest might pay bigger dividends than shorter waiting lines. It might even be better to get there after the cadre have had some opportunity to yell themselves hoarse!

I didn't really have longer lines per se. But I was glad I could sleep a bit more, eat a decent (small) breakfast, and go leisurely. If you guys really want to be there bright and early, fine, its your decision. From my experiences going around 0900 and those that did go earlier, they wished they went later. My first day wasn't bad, no one really yelled at me. I am fortunate I suppose, I have no expression in training environments and learned positions quickly, so I was left alone mostly.

Do what makes y'all comfortable. Keep in mind that no matter the size of the lines, you will never be sitting down on I-day. You even eat standing up until dinner.

But we get to sit on the bus, though right? :(

you sit on the bus? I don't understand? Either way you take the bus ride no matter what.

What I meant is if we're standing or sitting on the bus ride up to the footprints. I assume sitting (and looking very miserable since that's what last years picture's showed)- though I'm just making sure, I'm getting nervous and thus asking relatively stupid questions. My bad.
On a different topic, do you know if they time us on the obstacle courses?

yes you sit on the bus.....lol, you anxious kids.

The 3rd time through the O-course is timed for your flight (not individual).

Wait- you're saying we do it three times?!? More running, yay.

lol, yes, have fun. I liked the O-course, then again, I'm a monkey.

This probably sounds stupid, but immediately prior to showing up, should you drink lots of water to hydrate yourself, or will that just be bad in an hour or so (ie bathroom)

naw, they will be pouring drinks down your throat and stuffing you for hours. It's not meant to make you throw up or anything, but they realize that yall need food (no passing out! and the blood they take). So, you'll get water, juice, muffins, and fruit every hour or so I believe.

I do have a question about the bags, I know it goes into storage and stuff, but if we have like a shaving kit n stuff like that, will we have a point to take it out and keep it with us?

Also, should we keep our wallets on our person, or put them in our bags to go to storage?

Wait, what goes in storage and what doesn't?

3 times on the O Course? I think not...unless for some reason they changed it for 2010, this year it will be twice for O course and A course. The second time through will be timed for your flight.

For the lucky people who get chosen for sweepstakes, I guess you could count it as a third time. But that's only 2 basics per squadron for each event, so show a lot of effort if you want to do it again...otherwise just get through it.

Our bags get put into storage until after basic if I'm not mistaken (in reality we'll need nothing that we bring) except stuff like letter writing stuff, shaving kits, etc, etc. hence I asked the question... lol.

Our class did the O-course twice in one day, then went back later for time I believe.

Everything you bring will go in storage except razors and intimate items. Seriously, you don't keep anything else and will have to wait.
