Personal ESSAYS.

HI. Would any of you lovely columbia students mind allowing me to read your personal essays? OR atleast answer these questions:

--If you wrote about a personal experience, how specific did you get?
--What do you think about your essay that made it GOOD?

merci d'avanceeeeeeee.

Generally, good writing is specific, not vague. But don’t get too caught up in the details that you lose sight of the general course of the story. I find that decent essays tend to be narratives. So if you’re doing a story, just tell it and add the details where you feel necessary.

Show, not tell. Tell stories instead of telling facts. And yes, you CAN cut it down to under 500 words. Trust me. Half of that writing, as good as you think it is, ultimately is just ‘fluff’. Show passion.

hmm thanks!

expect the finished essay soon :)
