Varies by school (but they are all pretty similar), but at UCLA the following are PROHIBITED:

-any firearm
-any knife having a blade 2 ½ inches or more in length, or any folding knife with a blade that locks into place;
-any ice pick or similar sharp tool that can be used as a stabbing implement capable of inflicting serious bodily harm;
-any razor with an unguarded blade;
-any cutting, stabbing or bludgeoning weapon or device capable of inflicting serious bodily harm;
-any dirk or dagger;
-any taser, stun gun, or other similar electronic device;
-and any instrument that expels a metallic projectile such as a BB or a pellet, through the force of air pressure, CO2 pressure, or spring action, or any spot marker gun…

Edit:
It’s a shame really. If someone really wanted to bring a gun to campus to commit a crime they could easily do it. Students should be allowed to conceal carry.

Here’s one of many examples where law-abiding students were able to defend themselves from a shooting, and prevent it from getting even worse:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appalachian_School_of_Law_shooting

And here’s what happens when students are defenseless:

When seconds count, the cops are only minutes away.

in other words, dont be a dumbass.

if you get, raped, mugged, jumped, robbed, etc its your own damn fault.

you must yell “DANGER STRANGER!!!” and blow on a whistle I presume?

u have no idea how much i like you right now (no homo). I believe utah is the only state with some common sense. Students are ALLOWED to keep and conceal firearms, at least at BYU or some other school up there.

True, but that only applies to public universities in Utah. Private Universities like BYU can say whether or not they want guns on campus. (I think they don’t allow it AFAIK, but someone got caught doing it and they let him off easy)

California is lame…

thanks for the knowledge brah

California has among the cheapest CC tuition in the US, and relatively cheap tuition for the quality of UC you are admitted to. They do this hoping that their graduates stay in CA and ultimately, through taxes, pay back to the state more than they paid for subsidizing education. Unfortunately, as the years go by more and more people are leaving CA after graduating from the UCs because the cost of living and taxes is getting unmanageable here. California has its pluses and minuses but I’m leaving after I graduate.

thats my plan. in and out.

won’t mind going to europe either…
