edelynly, you’re frustrating me because you won’t respond directly to my question and you’re not explaining yourself. In what way is this system “efficient” and to who is it “efficient?”

^We pay $60 PER SCHOOL in application fees. They review the applications separately anyways, so you would think we would be allowed to send separate essays to each school. No efficiency is lost as far as I can tell.

Separate Question: How much truth is to the rumor that only UCLA/Cal look at essays? Is this only for CC transfers or for all 4 year transfers as well? If this was the case, why not just tailor your essay to Cal/LA since the other UC’s don’t look at it anyways.

I’m pretty positive Berkeley looks at essays. I knew one girl who had just O.K. grades (well below Berkeley’s average) and low SAT scores (< 1800) and no extra-curriculars and got into Berkeley. Seems like they must have read her essay haha

My rep said that even at UCLA if you have a certain GPA (like a 4.0), major, and pre-reqs they don’t even consider the essay.

They probably read the essay for borderline candidates.

the only schools that even look at your essays are UCB and UCLA
