In other words, do the colleges compare applications? Like if I literally used exactly the same stuff for all the applications would any one noticE/care?

Uh, there’s only one UC app. You don’t get a choice to send different essays to different schools…

Oh ok. I’m just at work right now and was contemplating how it might work out. Thanks man.

On a similar note, for the common app, can you use the same essays? I’m assuming yes but just making sure

Yeah, you don’t use any different essays for the UC schools. They all get the same one. And they don’t use Common App.

I’m confused also… what if you are applying to different UCs with different majors?

Magico: Some of the UCs don’t actually take the essays into consideration, so the first thing to do is figure out if you can get by just writing about one major. If multiple majors is still a problem after that, can you find a common ground between the two majors? If they’re similar, it shouldn’t be hard to fit both into the same essay. If they’re completely different… well, then you’ll have to get creative.

So you have to send one essay to all the UCs but you are allowed to apply to different majors, correct?

Magico that is correct
