I know you're supposed to talk about your accomplishments, a significant life experience or something like that...but would it be advisable to write about why you want to go to that school?

Most people I know wrote about their greatest achievement, biggest obstacle, etc. but nothing really significant has happened to me, nor have I done anything worth mentioning in my "personal statement". So could I just write my personal statement about why I want to go to that particular school? Like how I came to know about the school and why it became my dream school?

This is your chance to brag about yourself, to show what makes you "you".
Talk about a favorite book, movie, television show. Why you think Jennifer Aniston is overrated. The topic doesn't matter so much as the ability to express yourself.
My best friend wrote his essay about a bouncy ball he carries around his pocket, and went off on a hypothetical tyrant on it. He got accepted into Berkeley.

Aim for an essay that is personal, detailed, honest and revealing. Possibly your idea could work, but the essay must be primarily about you, not about the college.
