Personal statement v. essay. and signature

I applied to bowdoin ED. Yesterday I got a letter letting me know that they got my application and everything-- and they listed what I should have sent into them, just in case I forgot anything.
I did the application online and I think I sent in all that the application asked for. But I’m not sure if I…

 1. Did and sent in a personal statement
 2. “signed” my application

But what is a “personal statement?” is it the same as the essay?

I did my app. online-- do I still need to sign it by hand?

I tried calling bowdoin, but they’re closed for thanksgiving-- any help would be appreciated!

the website for the Bowdoin application follows.
<a href="http://www.bowdoin.edu/admissions/apply/applyingdownloads.shtml%5B/url%5D">http://www.bowdoin.edu/admissions/apply/applyingdownloads.shtml</a></p>

Scroll down to the common application ( requires: 1. Short answer of 150 or fewer words and 2. Personal essay). Then scroll down to the application supplement. On the second page of the applicant supplement - there is a requirement for another one or two page essay on what you expect of your academic journey at Bowdoin. This essay specific to Bowdoin is the personal statement.

Best of luck to you!

According to Bowdoin, the common app. essay it the "personal statement." I emailed them and somehow they replied-- even though the office wasn't open. That's what I thought, but I don't know why Bowdoin doesn't use the term "personal essay," like the application does.

a statment for things like applications are just something you've writen yourself basicly.. its really the same thing. But I agree, 1 word would be nice hehe.
