<p>So I had nooo idea the Brown personal statement had a maximum length. When I saw the character limit of 5k, and then the little blurb that explains that an essay over 5k can be uploaded as a .doc, I figured I’d be fine - but my essay is 1100 words exactly, and on the print preview of the application it says the essay should keep to 500 words.</p>
<p>Has anyone else had this issue? Do you think it’s a big deal?

<p>Unless you have a great story to tell, 1100 words is way too long.</p>
<p>That's what I would say, shorten it unless it looses a lot of the meaning.</p>
<p>there must be ways to shorten that essay. they definitely won't appreciate anything over 1000.</p>
