<p>Is it just me or is Tulane's personal statement basically the same as the Common App's 1st essay? Is anyone using the same essay for both?</p>

<p>@hopefulgwave - Thanks for the kind remarks. While Tulane is hardly an unknown school in most areas of the country, there are still a lot of places where there is no real depth of understanding beyond that name recognition. If I can help get people to take more than a glancing look at Tulane’s web site and start to realize that Tulane offers much the same educational opportunities as Vandy, Duke, WUSTL, NU, Chicago, etc. and has a stronger undergraduate emphasis than most of those schools, then I am happy. Even if they decide Tulane isn’t for them after seeing that, which is fine of course, at least they became aware of another possibility. If, like you, they decide Tulane is a great fit (and that happens a LOT, especially if they have a chance to visit), then so much the better for you and for Tulane.</p>
