Personal writing as an activity?

<p>I've read a few things that said it's okay to put hobbies and things you do on your own as an extracurricular activity, but there are just as many that say not to. I want your opinions on this, then.</p>

<p>I plan on majoring in English in college. I've devoted a lot of my time since the eighth grade to practicing and working on my writing. I write so often that I do honestly believe it hindered my participation in more activities. I don't think it's a bad thing, because writers need practice. Out of all the activities I've done, writing has taken up the most of my time.</p>

<p>All that being said, is it okay to put my writing on the application as an extracurricular activity?</p>

<p>You should definitely list it since you have spent a lot of time writing and you will be an English major.</p>

<p>I agree with TS1125. also, have you considered entering a few writing competitions? I would recommend it</p>
