Personality good enough for MIT

It seems so strange to me. That so often, the people who are even just a little bit remotely different from the 'norm' choose to spend so much of their lives exaggerating that difference for others to see instead of creating something truly unique. I mean, just look at all the non-conformists out there. You're not the first person ever to strive to be different.

who says that i am not going to make something completely unique and i am not like everyone else. I refused to be compared to anyone. Everyone else who had come before me failed to achieve their goal. But i will not fail

lol, I think not.

Wonderful. You are one of those people who refuse to be compared with anyone else.

Are you saying that there is a person that has accomplished my dream....sry i saying this at the stand point of my vision. I did not mean everyone else goals...but the one to be superior to a human

"Are you saying that there is a person that has accomplished my dream....sry i saying this at the stand point of my vision. I did not mean everyone else goals...but the one to be superior to a human"

Superman. duh.

Theoretically, superman was not even human to begin with. In his home planet he was just as strong as any mere human. It was the power of the earth's sun that gave him that abnormal human strength. Anyways, i was speaking in the context of a human becoming superior.

They DID want to stay human, as much as possible. They enjoyed their lives so much that they were quite content to have the exact same lifestyle in the afterlife. Potters would still be potters, fishermen would still fish, etc. None of this flitting about in white robes and wings for them. ;)

Underlining mine. Also be sure to read, from the "MIT's Influence on the World" page:
Students are frequently encouraged to unite engineering excellence and public service through class projects.
Underlining mine. And from "The Match Between You and MIT":
Fostering a collaborative environment is an important part of the MIT community. If you enjoy working alone all the time, that's fine! But you're probably not going to be particularly happy here.
Underlining mine. If you think you could be happy at MIT based on reality, by all means go for it! And if you use an MIT education to help extend the capabilities of humankind, all the better.

"Theoretically, superman was not even human to begin with. In his home planet he was just as strong as any mere human. It was the power of the earth's sun that gave him that abnormal human strength. Anyways, i was speaking in the context of a human becoming superior."

Well, since you seem to care about the actual state of super-humanity, rather than the process through which it is reached, I think my Superman example stands. I think you could say that he achieved what you want to, only obviously not through the same means that you will probably have to use.

I don't know about getting into MIT, but I think your first step should be buying a huge red and blue leotard+cape.

This mission statement is the exacly the main reason why i want to get into MIT, i want to change people way of thinking. I want to influence the future to the way i think it should be and i will do anything to get into that school.

But what i am concern about is..for MIT to look at me i should be diffrent,. In my essay if i only talk about my love for knowledge it won't be enough considering there is alot of people like that. I must tell then more, i want to tell them how i think. why i go to school? Do you think that would be taking risk, telling them my hopes and dreams....

I hope you understand

you sound like a psychopath

Forgive me for my obscene behavior, i am greatly sorry...it seems i have been thinking and have realized that my anger has cloud my judgment. It seems that i now why i desire knowledge, which is simply to bring mankind back to its high nobility.

Can i ask a favor, does any one have college essays that i can read (good ones though :p) so that i can see if my essay follows smoothly and correctly.

A much better idea is for you to write up some essays and then ask for volunteer readers. This way, you receive comments specific to what you write and how you present your own thoughts, rather than trying to emulate someone else's style.

A good place to ask for this help is on the Parents Forum. There are always experienced parent mentors there who are willing to read and comment, and you can be sure they are not going to swipe your essays or ideas and pass them off as their own.

Not that anyone would ever do such a thing, of course.

Also, on collegetoolkit.com, there's a contest going on in which people submit their college essays, and then other people can vote on them. Which basically means that there are about 80 or so college essays that you can look at for free. Although, I would recommend doing what mootmom says and not letting other people's styles influence your own.

You talk funny. Is that the way you usually talk in real life? If this isn't just some big act, you'd sure be an interesting person to meet. I'm sure if you had the stats to back it up, MIT would gladly accept someone as unique as you.

That's why going to college is so exciting. There are so many different points of view out there, you never know whom you will meet.

I greatly appreciate you understanding of my character and that i am not some crazy lunatic, even though my friends and family sometimes say that i am. There was one quote that i acknowledge: "There is a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased that line"

write your essays first, then ask for a review (to echo mootmom)

How is your gpa over 5.0?

Sorry that a bit backwards, i was informed that weighted includes AP and honor points so my weighted GPA is 5.3 and unweighted is 3.6

Middleton sucks, LONG LIVE BLAKE.

Way to dig up a thread from mid-2007 to post something completely devoid of content.
