Pertinence of Gen Eds for Freshmen

Hi, I'm wondering how time consuming Gen Ed courses can be and whether or not it is possible to hold off on taking them and instead taking courses in a possible double major pursuit.

I'm reading that CS 125 and 175 are important for people thinking about majoring in CS. I got in for EE, but am considering double majoring, for which, I read, these courses are necessary. Anyone have any advice and experience in trying to major in 2 subjects?

PS - hold off on telling me how impossible it is, I'm aware of the difficulty.

Thanks

Would recommend you check with your academic advisor. Conventional wisdom suggests getting Gen. Eds. out-of-the-way first. Concentrating on your major(s) as an upperclassman is viewed as the best (seamless) transition into your life’s work

I don’t see the advantage in waiting to take your gen ed classes. Those classes are often easier than classes such as Calculus, Physics and Engineering classes, so taking them early on is a way to raise your GPA and gain some confidence.

^What they said, but there are plenty of people who go too hard after gen eds. Don’t worry about them.
