geez...let the people wear what they will. who cares what they wear as long as they've got some clothes on. My friend wears harvard clothes because thats where her brother goes. shes not going to go there but she wears them. and as for people just randomly wearing a harvard sweatshirt or something, oh well. this is just me though. i can't personally see why someone is offended by this....do you feel like its degrading to their reputation or something?...because somebody WANTS to wear their clothes? now i'm getting too judgemental. The fact is, no it doesnt bother me, what someone wears is up to them.

Thanks for the clarification, kc_lady. I thought people became grandparents at 35 only down here in the South :)

As for the t-shirts, any college will appreciate the free advertising. With all that has happened here in the South lately, I am frankly amused (if that is the best choice of words) when I see pictures of these poor displaced people wearing college t-shirts that were donated. Really, who cares what shirt someone is wearing?? I still have, but rarely wear, shirts from my undergrad and grad school, but I wear a Harvey Mudd t-shirt that I picked up when we visited a few yrs ago just because I've always been entertained by the name, and so few people know of it anyway.

I don't see why anyone would be more offended by college sweatshirts than by Abercrombie or Gap sweatshirts. It's just a shirt, and most people I know don't make any assumptions about why someone is wearing a particular logo.

with abercrombie you can make the assumption that theyre preppy. just a note.

I'm curious - what's the "funny Chicago sweatshirts?"

Some of their sweatshirts are pretty unique. For example, "Chicago-where fun comes to die." The sweatshirt I really liked, though, had a freezing phoenix (their symbol) and snow with the caption "Chicago-where hell freezes over." There were more that I can't remember. :D

!!!!

Where do you get those?

Haha. The pet peeve of this post... I don't care. I like variety.

Plus, this sounds incredibly lame, but wearing shirts of prestigious universities inspires me.

You can't get them on-line, unfortunately. I saw them in the campus bookstore when I visited last year.

Poor Chicago!

I used to have a problem with that, but then I thought, "It's just a t-shirt."
