rumor has it he might be leaving USC for the seahawks head coach job.

why this does not make sense:
1. he is beloved in socal. 2. his nfl track record is terrible. 3. he has had tremendous success at socal. 4. he is beloved in socal. 5. he is beloved in socal.

If you call 33-31 terrible, then yes he did terrible…People need to stop saying that he “failed as an NFL coach” How do you think Eric Mangini is feeling? Or the Bills/Bucs coaches? Did he do bad compare to his college record? Yes, but so did Bill Belichick and Tony Dungy. People saying he did terrible as an NFL coach is why he will most likely go, “Why have you had so much more success on the college level and not as much on the NFL level” His 33-31 is his only “blemish” on his track record, he wants to change this.

Also like War Chant said he would have full control and admits that he has more success like that. Plus Paul Allen, the number 2 guy at Microsoft owns the Seahawks which means a big paycheck for Carroll and lot’s of money for free agency/staff.

That is why Pete Carroll will likely be going to the Seahawks.

his first season with the Jets, he went 6-10, then fired.

he then inherited a super bowl team in new england, replacing a nobody named bill parcells. the patriots got repeatedly worse every season, until he was fired 3 seasons later.

personally, i didn’t think he was even that good of a usc coach either. he won because he had NFL talent in a college level system. but as a prospective USC student, one thing that attracted me to usc is their outstanding sports program. i sure hope the new coach and pick up where carroll left off, through NCAA investigations and all.

First of all, I called it lol…second of all he didn’t do terrible. Third, he had NFL Talent because he is a master recruiter. His persona and salesmanship allowed him to get top talent no matter what. Need proof? Look at the recruiting class he HAD (may lose due to HIS leaving) one of top receivers, RB, and two top “all around athletes”…not to mention his defense. Recruiting is a major part of college football so you can’t discredit that. I hope he does great in the NFL because I’m a huge Carroll fan.

I have a feeling Gary Patterson of TCU is coming in, just my thought.

Ahhhh dammit! lol, that was my best guess…Stanfords coach Harbourgh (hacked the spelling) has an expiring contract and had a great season w/ Stanford, could be a possibility

ESPN reported that Mike Riley, the head coach of Oregon State, is the most likely candidate at the moment. However, it was noted that Mike Riley did say at one point he regretted leaving Oregon State when he went to coach for the San Diego Chargers, so nobody really knows if he’s willing to leave again.

Steve Sarkisian doesn’t seem likely because he said he seems to like what he’s building in Washington and plus Jake Locker decided to stay another year.

I doubt Lane Kiffin will be a candidate as he likes Tennessee and not to mention he named his new born son Knox. I feel that the state of Tennessee would secede from the union if Lane Kiffin were to go to 'SC.

Harbaugh in all likely hood is possible, after all, he showed he could coach a good team even with the strict academic requirements of Stanford.

Sources also mention other names like Jack Del Rio from the Tennessee Titans, but aside from all that, everything is just speculation.

I hope this new staff sticks around, Kiffin’s dad is an all-world D coordinator, Orgeron is a spectacular recruiter, and Chow would be the cherry on top(although nothing there has been finalized). I don’t understand the love a Lane Kiffin is getting though, I feel like the only reason USC hired him was due to the fact that he would be bringing along his Tennessee staff. He hasn’t really been able to show any real success as a coach at any level, yet he keeps getting the biggest jobs. He went something like 5-20 in the NFL, and was a decent 7-6 in his first year at Tennessee. He is a good recruiter though, I’ll give him that.
