Petroleum Engineering Emphasis major in CSU Bakersfield worth looking into?

Hello!

I stumbled upon this major on my search on Assist.org .

CSU Bakersfield is the only public college in CA, besides Stanford and USC, that offers a B.S. Enginnering with Petrol Engineering Emphasis. According to a proposal that I read from CSU Bakersfield, this major was recently created in June of 2013 since there are high demands for this engineering in the area of San Joaquin Valley and many of the students have very high interest in petroleum engineering.

Overall, is it worth majoring for? What is the reputation of CSUB?

Please let me know! Thanks

Oil is one of the two primary industries in Bakersfield (the other is agriculture), so having a petroleum option there is not that surprising.

CSU Bakersfield seems to be generally overlooked by out-of-area students; its small [url=<a href=“California State University, Bakersfield”>California State University, Bakersfield]dorm capacity of 350 students/url indicates that most students are local commuters. CSU Bakersfield is not campus-impacted, and the only impacted major is nursing, so a student meeting minimum CSU eligibility requirements will be admitted there to any non-nursing major (see http://www.calstate.edu/sas/impactionsearch/</a> ).

CSU Bakersfield will seek ABET accreditation for its engineering degree programs, according to <a href=“A Note from the Chair about ABET Accreditation of the Engineering Sciences Program | California State University, Bakersfield”>California State University, Bakersfield; .

Stanford and USC are not public.

Depending on your financial situation, college is mostly return on investment. So Bakersfield would be my choice if I lived in Cali. Plus why would u want to goto school in the ghetto in LA?

Reputation isn’t important. Once you start working no one cares where you graduated from.

Good luck to you.
