Petroleum Engineering-Louisiana-Lafayette

Hey all:

Any thoughts on the Pet Eng program at ULL? I was accepted at the University of Kansas but the difference in cost between KU and ULL will be about 30K( I am a non-resident).

I heard good things about Dr Ali Ghalambor, head of the Pet Eng Dept at ULL. I like Lawrence a lot, but it seems like ULL is more connected to the oil industry than KU

Also, I noted that the Pet Eng Dept at ULL has better Petroleum Engineering facilities than KU. Anyways, I just wanted to hear some opinions about ULL Pet Engineering program and their reputation.

I met someone a few weeks ago that works for Shell that graduated from there. There is no way I’d pay an extra 30k for Kansas.

ULL is a hidden gem in Louisiana. It has a great computer science program, if you decide pet eng is not for you. Lafayette is close to Houston, and there is lots of oil industry in both Houston and Lafayette.
