What are those correct classes? And I haven’t yet
If you are in general engineering at TAMU, you can apply after one semester with one math class, one science class, and one engineering class. Being accepted will be based on your competitiveness. This information is all posted on the engineering website…hope this helps…
To answer the original question on this thread, I’m currently a Petroleum Engineering freshman at the Cockrell school, and I think our entering class’s average SAT (Math & Reading) was 1460, average class rank was about top 2-3% and about 150 out of about 1600 applicants received an offer of admission. I hope this helps.
@RanaGreen Thanks! Yeah, I realized this thread has kind of been overtaken by irrelevant questions, but thanks for your very helpful insight!
My SAT score (M + CR) is just below that with a 1430, though I am within the top 3% of my graduating class. I really hope it works out.
@GMTplus7 true, but let’s focus on UT Petroleum.
Has anyone on CC been accepted?
I haven’t heard a single acceptance for engineering from anyone since that dec.16th wave
Got denied today, good luck to everyone
got into petroleum engineering.
@dannihunni can you tell us your stats?
I got in as well. 34 act, 3.82, 4.25, class rank around 7%.
28 ACT
1850 SAT
Rank 9/580; Top 2 Percent
My scores aren’t that strong, I’m guessing my extracurriculars and volunteer service (national honor society president), or my two engineering internships (civil and petroleum) helped me. Hopefully that provided some insight. Good luck!
Thanks @dannihunni! I found out I was not accepted.
I had a 2180 on my SAT, top 3%, and pretty good extracurriculars and leadership activities, but I guess it was not submitting that early. May I ask when you applied?
Yeah, sure no problem. I applied on 10/11/2014.
Sorry to hear that, especially since your SAT score was better than mine.
@dannihunni congrats though! I applied like late October.
I got into Petroleum Engineering today. Top 1%, National AP Scholar, 30 ACT, 4.00 UWGPA, 4.7ish WGPA, 15 AP courses. Competed in State UIL competitions plus other ECs. However, and most importantly, I poured my heart out into my essays. I think essays play a bigger role than most people think.
I was admitted to PGE on the 19th as well. 34 ACT, top 2%, a few EC’s that I invested quite some time in. Sorry to those who were denied. As for those admitted, I look forward to meeting you in the fall.
