Pharmaceutical Sciences

Anyone in the Undergrad Pharmaceutical SCIENCES? It is a program not offered at many schools, but NE has it and so does URI. Wondering if anyone can comment on the program at NE?

This is a relatively new program here so you do get a lot of support and resources with the professors. It is growing in popularity though. There’s also a lot of opportunities for research and getting into labs during the course of the program. Cambridge has lots of pharma companies that could be potential co op sites. The curriculum closely mimic that of the PharmD program for the first half or so.

i thought it doesnt matter where you go to school for pharmacy

Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences are 2 different programs. Pharmacy is the PharmD program focused more on the clinical/patient care side. Pharmaceutical Sciences is more research/drug development based. Does it matter where you go to school for pharmacy/PharmD? Yes and no. From a surface level, all PharmD is the same on paper. What really matters is what does the school or program have to offer you that you can take advantage of to make yourself a strong candidate on graduation. (But that holds true for almost any major…although especially true for pharmacy now that programs are cropping up like rabbits and churning out grads faster than you can even count to 30.) Northeastern has the added benefit of the embedded co-ops which are probably one of the most extensive real world work experiences of any program.
