So I thought that I got the Pharmacy freshman guarantee because my accpetance letter said that I was qualified for it, however after reading some of the posts on other topics, people have mentioned recieving their "Conditional admission packet". I have gotten a ton of Pharmacy pamphlets/ packets/ informative sheets but I dont think I've gotten a specific one for the freshman guarantee. My question is, is there a specific packet I need to confirm my guarantee, or does my accpetance letter saying that I qualify for it enough?

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to maintain a 3.25 gpa in the math and science courses at Pitt? I know that it wont be easy, but do most people who get the guarantee able to keep up the necessary gpa?

Yeah, that's what I thought too, but your initial acceptance letter doesn't cut it. You get something extra to ensure your guarantee into grad school.

It's not a packet. It's a letter. It congratulates you on your acceptance into Pitt, and then it will say "... we are pleased to inform you that you have been chosen as a candidate for the... guaranteed admission to the [insert major]". Mine was the Doctor of Physical Therapy Guarantee, so I got a copy of the SHRS Freshmen Guarantee Programs and a list of prerequisites courses I needed to take as well as the conditions of my acceptance.

Thats really strange because from my initial acceptance letter it didnt seem like I would get another letter about it. When does this letter come? I've already gotten the honors college packet and i just recieved my academic portfolio like a week ago. Would they tell me that I "qualified" for a guarantee and then not give one out?

Yeah, the initial letter just congratulated you on your acceptance to Pitt in your pre- major right? I was super excited cause I thought that meant I got guarantee, but it doesn't lol. I even called the office, and they told me I had to wait for another letter. I got the guaranteed letter about a week after my initial acceptance letter (which was after Thanksgiving break). Not so hopeful on honors college and I'm losing hope in scholarship money :( But if you got into Honors college, I'm PRETTY sure you got guaranteed grad. I'd call them to make sure if you don't get anything in the next week or so.

What is this academic portfolio you speak of? :(

Yes, my initial letter said that I was accepted to pre-pharm and said I was qualified for conditional admission, and it then went on to explain the difference between conditional and open admisssion. I think I will call because it just seems really strange to me because I got accepted in October and I got all of the required SAT scores and class rank etc to get the guarantee and since I applied really early, I thought that there really wasnt going to be any question.

I dont know if it is the economy or what but it seems that Pitt used to give out more $. I was expecting a $2000 scholarship because I made Honors college and have a great gpa and class rank but wasnt offered anything :(

The academic portfolio is a folder that gives you information on the dean, school safety, financial aid and mine also had a Pharmacy packet. You should be getting it sometime soon I would think.

Erhh, I never got a letter explaining conditional and open admission?

Yeah I was expecting some money too cause I'm OOS and Pitt seems to be generous to OOS students to encourage diversity on campus.

Well I got housing info, financial aid & deposit information WITH my initial acceptance letter. Is that what you were talking about? Oh and I got a Q&A for A&S cause I'm initially enrolled in A&S to complete my prereq before I can transfer to H&R for physical therapy.

I got the housing and deposit info with my initial acceptance. Its all so confusing but I dont think that the portfolio is really something to stress over, it will come.

Congratulations to your daughter as well. I dont know anyone else who has been accepted, but then again, I didnt know anyone else who applied. I'm from Pittsburgh, so its definately not as far for me :)
