So I got an acceptance letter from pitt saying I got into their college of arts and sciences with a pre-pharmacy emphasis, however I'm not sure whether I got a conditional acceptance into their 6 yeah pharm program. Do they usually tell you in the letter itself that you have conditional acceptance into the program? Or am I simply not offered conditional acceptance?

The letter should indicate something to the effect of:
“Your acceptance to the University is in the School of Arts and Sciences with an intended field of study in pre-pharmacy. Your class rank and college entrance examination test results qualify you for conditional admission to the School of Pharmacy.”

There was no mention of my conditional Engineering acceptance in my original acceptance letter…

If you aren’t offered conditional initially, I’m guessing that they won’t offer it anytime later?

They tell you a decision good or bad in a letter so if they don’t mention conditional acceptance you will get a decision later.

Matok - Pharmacy is a little different. For one thing, their program is called “Conditional Acceptance” while all the other graduate programs are listed as graduate/professional school “guarantees.” Further, if you look at the Pitt website, the pharmacy program is not listed with the other grad school programs. I’m not sure exactly what the distinction is. Perhaps it’s because pharmacy starts after your second year of undergrad and not after you have completed your bachelor’s.

joshyo10 - Call the School of Pharmacy. Folks on this forum cannot definitively answer that question. I don’t believe you can get the conditional latter, but I don’t work for the admissions office at the School of Pharmacy. You can always apply for open admission to pharmacy when you have completed your prerequisites. The nice thing about the earlier conditional admission programs was that they did not require you to take the PCAT. I believe the current program does, even if you have the conditional acceptance.

Oh alright, thanks for the info!

Can you please do me a favor & report back here once you get an answer? My son is wondering the same thing. The letter is kind of weird … I assume it means no for conditional, but it’s not exactly helpful in terms of explaining the likelihood of actually getting into the pharmacy program someday.
