Hello all,

I am currently an undergraduate majoring in Biochemistry and am conflicted and somewhat lost in my grad school aspirations. I am very interested in research and development of pharmaceuticals and am aware there are many options in educational pathways to gain entry into the field; however, I don't know what will prepare me best. I've read one can go to Pharm school and work in industry, but I've also read it mostly prepares you for retail positions, of which I am NOT interested in and am worried that if I get into pharm school I wont be qualified or prepared for drug development and research. So, I guess my question is, should I pursue a PhD in pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, pharmacodynamics, or other related field as opposed to going to Pharm school? Is either acceptable? My undergrad degree is in Biochemistry, so naturally I am interested in finding therapeutic targets and essentially anything related to the research and development aspect.I am pretty lost even upon doing quite a bit of digging. Thank you so much in advance for any help you all can offer me. It is much appreciated.
