Phase I

How do u get a phase I appointment to start scheduling classes if we are entering freshman this fall?

You have to go to CalSo and they give you a number that allows you to pick your classes on telebear

if we want to take an upper division class fall of freshman year, won’t we be at a disadvantage because upperclassmen get to schedule their classes first?

pretty much. what upper division class are you thinking of taking ?

math 53 or maybe physics 7b.

also do u know if we can take espm 50 ac and chem 1a as a sophomore?

i dont see why there would be any restrictions on these two classes.

so i can take espm 50ac and chem 1a sophomore year right?
i was figuring that the majority of the freshman would want to take those classes and so was wondering if it was only a freshman class.

Classes numbered 99/- are lower division.
Classes numbered 100-199 are upper division.

What is your major, and why are you delaying Chem 1A until your sophomore year? You really shouldn’t.

ieor and what i was thinking was doing phys. 7a over the summer and 7b during the spring of freshman year so i wouldn’t forget stuff from 7a and have to take it sophomore year.

that is why i postpone chem 1a for sophomore year so i can get physics requirements out of the way.

do u think that’s all right???

By the time CalSO comes around Physics 7B will be pretty much full, so it will be hard to get into.

IEOR probably has a relatively rigid curriculum for you to follow, go look at their website.

during calso, don’t we only schedule fall semester courses?

and then i can schedule for physics 7b end of fall semester, right?

Unless you are rather lucky, you will not get into Physics 7B for fall. All the current freshman and current sophomores who need it for fall will fill it up during their phase 1 appointments.

wait…i want to take physics 7b during spring of freshman year.
cal so is only for fall semester classes right, so do u think i can get in physics 7b spring semester still?

you should be able to get into it for spring.

thanx a lot anon5524485.

so again, calso is only for fall and i have to go through tele-bears for spring classes, right?

yea, you go through TeleBEARS each semester.

This summer you go through Phase 1 at CalSO and phase 2 at an assigned time for Fall registration.

In October-December you will go through TeleBEARS for Spring 10

Hi Leftist,

Based on your comments and your experience, there is slim to no chance of Freshmen attempting to register for Physics 7B during Calso (June 2nd and 3rd week) because they will be full by that time?

So, what do engineering freshmen usually end up taking - from what I hear, R&C & Physics get gull.

How about math - 53/54?
How about CS61A?

so those who already have their phase I appointments are not freshman?

Well, I meant Freshmen for 2009.

All incoming freshmen have to wait for Calso appts in Jun (registered thru Calso). Anyone who can’t make it have to wait until July to receive Telebear logins in July.
