Ah, thanks for the clarification. I was just nervous because I thought I missed something and everybody else had already signed up for classes (and knowing how competitive certain classes are, this is a scary thought).

Does anyone know at what time/place during CalSO we sign up for our first 10.5 units (I want to get there ASAP and make a mad dash if I have to)?

This is what I'm thinking (EECS major):

Phase I:
Physics 7A (4 units)
EARTH AND PLANETARY SCIENCE 170AC (4 units) [American Cultures requirement]

Phase II:
CS61A (4 units)
Calculus -- Mathematics (MATH) 1B (4 units)

American History & Institutions: Cleared with 4 on AP US History exam

Is this good? The Earth and Planetary Science course says "170" by it, which I thought was an upper division course, but it was listed in the Fall '07 American Cultures course catalog; can I still take it as an entering Freshman? Also, am I missing any general UC requirements here? I didn't see anything about humanities or social science listed on this page:

http://www.berkeley.edu/catalog/undergrad/requirements.html#colleges

EDIT: Oh wait, is this it (listed under my EECS major on the EECS website):

Courses that satisfy the Subject A (an entrance English requirement), Humanities and Social Studies, American Cultures, and American History and Institutions requirements in effect at the time of admission. Humanities/Social Studies electives must include six approved courses of a least 3 units each.

So, this means I HAVE to take a course that satisfies the "Subject A" and a Humanities and Social Studies course? Shoot, that sucks :( Does 4 units equal 1 semester or 2? I really wanted to jump right into my major with CS61A and I wanted to get Physics 7A/7B done ASAP.

EDIT2: How can I tell if a course satisfies the H&SS requirement or not? I really want to take this course:

Brain, Mind, and Behavior -- Molecular and Cell Biology (MCELLBI) 61 [3 units]
Course Format: Three hours of lecture and one hour of discussion per week.
Description: Introduction to human brain mechanisms of sensation, movement, perception, thinking, learning, memory, and emotion in terms of anatomy, physiology, and chemistry of the nervous system in health and disease. Intended for students in the humanities and social sciences and others not majoring in the biological sciences.
