I just finished my BS in Computer Science at Georgia State University and am beginning my MS in Computer Science at the same university next semester. It should only take me 1.5 years to finish my MS, so I'd like to start looking at PhD programs since the Fall 2012 deadlines start in December 2011. That way I can get all of my recommendations and the other requirements done early and not have to worry about if they'll be done in time.

[BS Degree]
Overall GPA: 3.67
CS GPA: 3.91

[General GRE]
Verbal 400 - 35%ile
Math 770 - 87%ile
Analytical Writing 4.0 - 45%ile

I still have yet to take the CS Subject Test GRE, but I think I'll take it over the summer. I think I might need study vocabulary and retake the General GRE to get a better verbal score too.

The schools I'm particularly interested in:
Columbia University
New York University

I'd like to know if you guys think I could get into the PhD program for Computer Science in those schools. I'm also open to suggestions for other schools. I spent the entire time earning my BS at home and probably will with most of my MS as well. I'd like to live on campus to do my PhD and will need a school that funds CS students (most do for a PhD) and is not in Georgia (to force myself to move). I would really like a school that has an active campus life and good reputation.
