PG in Andover?

11th grade is the hardest to get into? I wanted to apply this year. Except the tuition is ASDLKJAFKDJ and financial aid doesn't sound too good either.

I guess we will know after we finish applying, but to the best of my knowledge and belief the financial aid at Andover is just fine. Apply and see what happens would be my advice.

40% of people are on financial aid here.

Financial Aid is NOT a problem in most cases. I cannot imagine who would have told you this......far from accurate information.

Andover is great, you'll love it here.

I live in a very wealthy area (Palo Alto, CA) and my family income is quite high. However, my family hadn't planned to send me to boarding school, and my parents still have to plan for their retirement and college tuition for me and my brother. Is income the main deciding factor, or would it be possible for me to get financial aid anyway?

Top boarding schools take into consideration that your parents will be sending you to college, needing funds for siblings and retirement. Many families w/ income over $100.000. get financial aid.....you need to fill out the application and financial aid forms and get a real answer, then make the family decision. You are not alone in your concerns.

There's no harm in applying. Remember, at Andover, 40% of the students are on finanical aid!

Haha, I go to Andover. The public school in Michigan that is.

Hehe... i'll give you my opinion.

I go to the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics. Its a public selective boarding school for the best 300 science and math kids in the state(Junior and Senior only).

I'm in one of arguably the hardest course loads here for a junior. What I have realized so far is:

A) Responsibility: sorry, your parents aren't here anymore. You have to start remembering more things, like doing laundry, catching meals, clubs, etc.

B) Everyone is very smart. Trust me, when you think you are special because you took 4 AP exams before junior year, and then you find out everyone has(1 kid took 10 before coming here).

C) School is what you make of it. The golden rule:

You can sleep, socialize, and study. Pick 2.

I usually study, and do a bit of sleeping and socializing.

D) The classes are a lot harder. The guarantee is if you pass AP Chem, you will get a 5(everyone always does).

E) FREEDOM

Just be yourself. Don't try to give an answer you think the interviewer will like. Just be honest, and good luck!
