Philosophy 22W: Intro to Ethical Theory

I'm an incoming freshman and am trying to figure out my schedule for next year. There are 2 classes and a Fiat Lux seminar that I am taking for sure, but I need one more class to fit in my schedule. I am considering Philosophy 22W: Intro to Ethical Theory with Pamela Hieronymi. There are mixed reviews of this professor on BruinWalk, but this is not my biggest concern. The grade distribution for the class is scary, with only 5 percent receiving an A. I would like to maintain a 4.0 for at least one quarter haha. I'm just wondering whether I should take such a hard class my first quarter. Any thoughts?

I would say hold off on 22W, unless your high school experience was very structured and rigorous (beyond just preparing you for a 5 on the AP exams.) You haven’t experienced UCLA classes yet so it’s best to take medium difficulty classes first in order to figure out your study habits, exam performance, etc… This is not to say that UCLA classes are overly difficult, but just feel it out first.
