I enjoy philosophy, and politics and economics are certainly fascinating (and dare I say, marketable), but I’m unsure how I will hold up under the workload. Does the PPE program just give you a broader overview of each subject as opposed to the specialization of a phil. major?
PPE at Oxford or somewhere else?
At University of Michigan.
A good way to find out would be to look at the required classes for each of the two respective majors you are considering.
One must first get into the program, which is by no means a given. But considering Michigan’s excellence at all three disciplines (top 3 in Philosophy and Political Science and top 15 in Economics), and the University’s rich tradition in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary programs, Michigan’s PPE concentration has very few peers.
In terms of flexibility, I think the PPE program would open up more opportunities to you at the end of the road.
