Philosophy/Science and Atheism

A well sourced article: [Evolutionary origin of religions](Evolutionary origin of religion - Wikipedia).

For a detailed view at the origins of religion through the lenses of anthropology, sociology, psychology and other sciences see: [The Science of Good and Evil: Why People Cheat, Gossip, Care, Share, and Follow the Golden Rule /url

The tools of science are uncovering substantial evidence that religion is a two-edged sword (tool) humans stumbled upon for evolutionary. Like any two-edged sword, it has benefits and unintended consequnces.

Or God is using a two-edged sword to teach us a lesson, by sticking it up our asses.

our interpretation of what god is or has done creates our philosophy and understanding of what god is.

I think it’s stupid that the person that’s keep reinforcing/marketing this idea: “god is true, he is real, and he exists, he is infinite and source of my life…” without really saying what his understand of god is (in his own world)… maybe he’s in denial?

fyi, I’m writing this reply after page 2. sorry, most people stop at page 1, and so far you’ve said nothing but: yes god exists, let’s pray.

well back to the original question. I am a math major and I believe in God.

As shakespeare wrote : “there is more between heaven and earth than can exist in your philosophy”.

And quite frankly the more I study science the more I believe in a higher power. My feelings only.

the argument from personal incredulity is old, boring news. i vote we let this thread die again.

I second that vote. Seriously, all the '09 transfers were just killing time in this thread, waiting to hear back from schools, hahaha!

The '10 transfers are welcomed to waste their time too. :)

There is a difference between believing in a higher power and believing in a Judeo-Christian belief system.

^ yeah, the former is silly and the latter, just false.

ok so to be clear…whos pro-atheism and whos a believer?

btw…im a christian so you guys can attack me and i’ll try to prove myself. ;)

NO!

LET THIS DIE, NEVER TO BE RESURRECTED!

just like christ…

oh, snap!

so if he wasnt resurrected…how do u explain the empty tomb? ( that is, if u even no the story im talking about)

This thread is now about Jon and Kate plus 8

seriously tho pinker…do u have an answer?

no, because i want this thread to die.

ok…just answer that question and then ill let it r.i.p

proof that god doesn’t exist: this thread is still active.
