do you believe there is a GOD?

do you believe there is a GOD? that this life is just a beginning?
why or why not??

sorry if this sounds creepy, but i really was just wondering lol.

No, I do not believe in a GOD or any higher being. Why? I couldn’t believe in one if I wanted to–the belief is simply not there. I think “God” is just a means to explain things we don’t understand.

Edit: I’m not sure if you’re asking this question because you’re questioning your own belief, but if you are questioning it, I know how tough that can be. I was raised in a religious family and I was pretty devout. When I was a sophomore in undergrad, I had an “epiphany” and my belief in God just went out the window. It just ended. It was a tough time, but I got over it.

What Bodacious said. I will admit I’ve tried to ‘discover’ religion/God/Christ or whatever but I just can’t do it.

I just haven’t been convinced.

Sure I do. He was my roomie when we were doing undergrad at Nazareth State. Nice guy, but a bit too happy with the “lord’s grass” if you know what I mean ;)

No, because you can tell from history it was made by the government to influence people and even today anything they say is trying to make you feel an emotion, like a salesman (blech)

yes, I believe their is a God, who blesses us everyday one way or the other. :)

thanks for the answers.
and i wouldn’t call myself questioning…i’m just unhappy with my life right now.
and i want to know GOD will make it better for me.
it’s hard to explain.

For the longest time I was religious (my entire childhood), then I was anti-religious but believed in God (most of high school). Then I found the term agnostic, which I was for about a year and now after doing more research and taking a Religions of the Globe course at my college, I think that I’m definitely an atheist, but identifying as an atheist is still new to me and my friends still know me to be agnostic, it’s just really strange to make that full leap, but in all honesty, it seems to be the most logical belief.

^Why do you make the distinction? You can be both agnostic and atheist.

I don’t think so. To be agnostic is to be doubtful or noncommittal. To be atheist is to know there is no god or higher power. Atheism and theism (note I said theism and not religion) are opposite sides of the same coin, just like the religious and the anti-religious are also opposite sides of the same corn.

^Agnosticism is lack of knowledge, atheism is lack of belief. Many atheists don’t know for sure if there is no god or higher power, but they just don’t believe in such things. Common misconception. You can also be an agnostic theist by doubting the existence of god but still choosing to believe, that’s what faith is all about.

Well agnostic for me meant I wasn’t sure whether or not God existed; it also meant that even if I did believe in God, I think religion is pointless. But in being atheist, I will definitely claim that I don’t believe in God. I know you can be an agnostic atheist. But in my case, I’m starting to conclude that theism is just made up.

Yes, and He has commanded me to take over Münster to prove it.

Yes. I’ve had doubts, but yes. Definitely.

Yes! Jesus is definately cool!

The existence of a universal, infinite force of some sort cannot be proven real or false, but I definitely do not believe in the Judeo-Christian God or the gods of any organized religion. I definitely don’t believe this God cares about what people do or is in any way involved with their lives.

huh well i don’t go to church, but i believe there is a God

i don’t believe in creationism or any anti-science stuff though

I’ve been waiting for one of these threads to appear again.

I consider myself a teapot agnostic, which means that for all intents and purposes, I don’t believe in a god just as I don’t believe in mystical teapots that float around space or invisible pink unicorns. As of now, I haven’t seen any evidence to show that a god must exist or had existed, let alone the god worshiped by a certain religious group. To most people, I just say that I’m an atheist, though I can pass for a Evangelical Christian.

There is no god.

thats kind of ironic cuz ur name/username is christian…
