Phone call time

My mid gets to call this Sunday, but no one has informed us of the time of the call. Do we have to hang by the phone all day? Thanks

They emailed us the times on the plebe email group and they gave us the in writing in a letter at some point. I'll see if I can find my copy and post it here.

Parent Club co-ord just sent this to us.

July 13 - All Companies 1600 - 1645

July 27 - All Companies 1600 - 1645 with the exception of O Company
(Platoons 27 & 28) 1700 - 1745

August 3 - All Companies 1600 - 1645

I hope it is OK to post this here...

^^^ While "it's always 5 o'clock somewhere," just remember USNA clocks are set to Eastern Standard Time.

Annapolis is currently on Eastern DAYLIGHT time, and I assume that USNA is on the same time as the town. If you want to check your Mid's local time, you can use the following link:

Annapolis, Maryland, United States current local time from WorldTimeServer.com

Also, ONLY on 27 July the time window for ALL companies is 5-5:45 EDT, not just for O company.

why would they change it just for O company anyway?

Not a clue, I just copied and pasted from the email I was sent...

I'm just hopin' for that call!

I just received an email from Veronica Gibson that confirms the phone call times posted by Pmarol in post #2. She said that her information came directly from the OIC of Plebe Summer.

The letter we recieved before I-day informing us of our Mids address only gave two dates for phone calls. This Sunday and the the 27th. We were told on I-day that this years Plebe class only gets two calls. Thanks for providing the times, I am surprised that we did not get this information from the Academy on the Plebe Summer web page.

At the Supe's brief on IDay, The Commandant showed a slide that clearly showed 3 phone calls. That brief is available online at the Foundation's Web site under the parents section. That web site has a lot of the parents information on it as they sponsor the Parents Clubs and one of the list servs. https://www.usna.com/NetCommunity/SSLPage.aspx?pid=415&srcid=425

This is a direct link to the Commandants brief. http://www.usna.com/NetCommunity/Document.Doc?id=861
page 14 has the phone schedule but not the times. They were verbally stated.

Remember that prior to Plebe Summer there was a different Commandant - things change. In our two years we certainly have learned to be adaptable. The funny thing is that is one of the qualities that this Commandant spoke about. Midshipman need to be adaptable. LOL Probably sometimes us Parents need to learn it even more.

Thanks for the links, apparently things did change after we received our letter prior to I-Day.

^^Semper Gumby and beware.

Wonder if anyone heard yet? Gumby-in' away here...

got ours at 4:40EDT, 3 minutes then had to go. He sounded good,

Oh, well, a bunch to do about nothing, ours must have used the time on the girlfriend...........he'll figure it out soon enough when she starts school at a big university this fall.

Gotamidin - maybe not though. They did warn us that it was possible a few kids would miss the call time because of some scheduled duty thing and that they might call at another time or not be able to this time... So unless the girl tells you she heard from him, hold out hope! And if he did, get her update! :)

I did hear from my son. He is very happy. Says it is tough but he sounded fantastic.

We heard too. He sounded GOOD! Had a whole list of things to send him. On my way to Wally World now.

Whew!!!

Heard from mine, also sounded GREAT, though said he is totally exhausted. He said he is very glad to be there and loving it. Classified as "double expert" on the pistol range, joining the rugby team.

^^^^ That would be an expert on rifles and an expert on pistols. No such thing as a "double" expert. Gets chest candy. Will wear an E on both ribbons. Good job!

We have gotten several letters and he sounded real upbeat, but it looks like the girlfriend got the call today. No problem, she has him real stirred up about her being friends with her X-boyfriend. All of this drama was sorta ill timed........he will figure out where his priorities should be, or someone else will do it for him. All this will work out over the next several months.

She sounds like a young girl with either poor or "mean" judgement. You're right, it'll work out. But it's the last thing he or any new plebe needs. Unfortunate, and I'm betting on him.
