Thank you so much! Till staying positive!

Thank you!

Has anyone kept track of how many Acting and Musical Theatre calls have been made. S applied MT, did not realize that he may be eligible for Acting. This process is driving me Crazy!

Yeah any information on how many people have been called for sure would be great.

In the past the composition of the MT and Acting groups are similar. Roughly 7 males/5 females in each, for a TOTAL of 24 students. All students are matriculating to a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. Acting Majors can take optional singing/dance classes to have the same learning experiences as MT’s, they just aren’t technically “MT’s”. Not sure what relevance that has, really. I think the only performance limitation for an Actor over and MT is the main stage musical senior year because generally they do not audition for the Senior Musical because they are featured in the Main Stage plays… although there was at least one Junior in Wild Party due to three students leaving CMU a couple months early (for B’way, TV or Nat’l Tours). Don’t have any inside info on weather or not all the calls have been made. Good luck to you all!

Thanks for clearing that up, @catchastar! Love having your insight.

Don’t know if not hearing yet means we should give up hope. It’s 8:15 Sunday night and my daughter did not yet get a call for MT.

My D. got the call Friday!!! CMU Drama!!! Sorry, been slow to respond only cause we are just SO DARN EXCITED!!!

Congratulations LeDramaMama and D !!!

Woo hoo, congrats to your daughter and you all @LeDramaMama!

Thank YOU!!! Thank You!!! entertainersmom & AssToTheMT…We are so happy!!!

Congrats to all accepted! Thank you all for such quick responses to my newbie questions. It’s funny, I still remember agonizing on whether or not to send my S to Kindergarten early or not. SO glad I did not (one extra year with him : ) Anyway, I look back and think how could I have spent so much time stressing about it. My hope is that in 5 years we can all look back and realize that as long as our kids get into a program, anywhere, doing what they love, is such a blessing. I am so thankful that my S has a passion and knows what he wants to do. We are all so lucky in that way, so many of my friends have kids that have no idea what they want to do. Good thoughts to all over the next couple weeks.

To the people who got the call for Drama: Did you apply for Musical Theatre and was given Drama?

Any idea whether or not all calls have been made?

Congrats @LeDramaMama!! Awesome news!!!

Could there possibly be more calls left to make? I suppose it isn’t unreasonable that half of the kids that were accepted are exceptionally private and have not announced via social media… but it’s hard to keep such a secret these days! Wishful thinking

@Dradsmom My daughter auditioned for MT and was called/offered a spot in Acting. She was thrilled. She is an actor/singer/dancer and didn’t expect to get in for MT, though we thought she had a chance for acting.

Also, we were tipped off slightly by the “Where am I in the Process” portal. Her portal changed on March 18th. Under “College Choices” it used to say:

1 CFA DRA MTH

(which stands for College of Fine Arts / School of Drama / Musical Theatre)

A new line was added on the 18th to look like this.

1 CFA DRA ACT
2 CFA DRA MTH

I did a little research from previous years to see if others’ portals ever changed, and I found one that had. That person ended up being waitlisted for both MT and Acting.

So I had a feeling that since ACT was added, D was either waitlisted or accepted into Acting.

Turns out in our case it was an acceptance and D got the call on the 21st.

@AsstToTheMT I just checked my D’s portal (she didn’t receive a call), but her portal now has an extra line as well… it looks like this…
- CFA DRA MTH
- CFA MUS VCE

I wonder if that means anything or if it’s my MT OCD again LOL.

@DoReMiMom, did she audition for the school of Music for voice as well? Or put that option down as a second choice of majors when she applied?

Ooooh, I hope that is a good sign DoReMiMom! Son’s still has only one choice, and it is just as well because he has already begun to see himself at one of the schools that has accepted him. Fingers crossed for you and D!!
