Does anyone know if Lawrenceville and Taft do phone interviews?

I think pretty much all boarding schools have phone interviews.

Are you considering applying late to boarding school or for next year?

Well, I skip to conclusions. My conclusion for right now is that I am going to get rejected from Andover and go to my local public school. I had a dream that happened about a week ago and since then I've been absolutely obsessed. I am looking for great schools to apply to for 10th grade which would be next year. I figured I should start my search now. I'm basically following my instinct, but hoping for the best on March 10th.

Lawrenceville and Taft are two of the many schools I have reseached. They are among my favorites and I would love to apply there. I just know my parents would not want to drive to either of these places JUST for an interview when they are among the schools I am applying for.

They appeal to me because the ec's, academics, and dance programs match my wants and needs. Their campuses look beautiful. I don't plan on actually visiting these places unless I actually get in and have to revisit.

That's why I was curious if they did phone interviews. =]

You should keep in mind, if you're looking at Lawrenceville and Taft for next year, that decisions are due in two weeks. Your odds of getting in there would be extremely slim if you haven't applied yet.

Oh no. I'm looking ahead far into the future. I want to apply for the 2008-2009 school year...

Same here, although I might not end up applying to boarding school if I end up going to the local prep school and really like it. The admissions officer went to Lawrenceville so I'm sure she could help me.

The admission officer of Greenhills?

Oh, okay, sorry I got confused, dancer. I'm really not paying enough attention today.

No problem. I don't expect you to pay undivided attention to silly posts when we all have such busy lives with far more important things going on.

The admission officer of Greenhills?

Yes .

Wow, he/she might be able to help you a great deal!

Wait Jonathon I don't get your situation...
your applying for 9th grade at a local school and you are planning to apply to Lawrenceville the year after?

But if the admission officer of Greenhills wanted you there, then would she help you at Lawrenceville?
(sorry if that made any sense haha)

I'm applying for ninth grade at a local prep school. If I get in, I will go. If I really like it there and I don't think I would be any happier or better suited at a boarding school, then I will stay there. If I do think I would be better off at boarding school, then I may apply. All I said was that I could ask her for her opinion because she went to Lawrenceville. If I do apply to boarding school next year, I probably won't apply to more than two schools. I applied to Andover Summer Session, so if I go I will get a taste of boarding school life. If I like it, I'm sure I could have a tour and interview during the summer as well as St. Paul's. On the calendar for Summer Session, there's a day where there's some sort of information session for students curious about applying to the school year at Andover.

the boarding schools near me stinks. What does everyone else think about oakwood friends school?millbrook?new york state military academy? storm king?thanks

I've heard good things about Millbrook. Oakwood Friends is probably better as a day school because there is only a small % boarding.

When these prep. schools have phone interviews, is it just with alum. reps. or can I ask for a member of the AdCom to interview me?

I know that, at least at some schools, members of the admissions staff do the phone interviews. (And in college admissions, alumni interviews typically take place only when the student can't travel to the school for an on-site interview.)

Millbrook, I know twins who attend and also a boy in my grade has an incredible line of legacy there. He calls it his safety and his top choice. He'd probably end up there.

The school websites say they do interviews on campus or with an alum. rep. In the late summer, should I call or e-mail these schools to see if an AdCom could give me a phone interview?

I think you're required to visit the campus if you live within 300 miles of the school.

I think I read that on Deerfield's and/or St. Paul's website.
