so, I go to my room next year and I get a phone..and I plug it in...and I call..
do I pay?
does Yale cover my phone calls? (within the US of course)??

Most students use their cellphones exclusively. My D and her roommates have never gotten a regular phone.

But if you do want one, this might give you some info: Telephone services at Yale- Yale ITS

You can get a phone to plug in and use...you can check out that ITS link.

However, I hardly know anyone who actually has a phone in their room. A cell phone is WAY more useful, because honestly you won't up spending much time in your room at all. You'll find yourself constantly in class, with friends, at activities, in the library or in the dining halls, etc. That's what's so great about Yale! But it does make a phone in your room a little impractical/pointless...

D confirmed that she and her suitemates have no phone in their room. I asked about their voice mail accounts, that each of them has on the Yale phone system. She laughed and said they never use it. As stated above, they all have and use their cell phones exclusively.

My suite has a phone, but it is only ever used by my roommate, who talks to his girlfriend at home for at least 4 hours every night.
