does any one in hear have photographic memory, or know any one with it.
if so u should post it here.
People say I have photographic memory esp in math/science area. I agreed with em cuz it was cool, but in reality I read a alot of research books, and original work, so when I see a lot of formula I rememver them because I remember the connection between them. Secondly I dont think having real phothographic memort would really help because I u dont recall the connection between what ur seeing and the facts then u have nothing. the people that are really smart tend to analyze better instead of having a good memory. what do u guys think?

I have photographic memory, and it helps if you don't have any clue what the connection is, you can just go back in your brain and look at the picture of what you were reading and see it in bold print. Atleast that's how it works for me. I look at something, and it's like my brain takes a picture of it and stores it in my brain. Depending on how important the information is, my brain might zoom in and memorize every single thing on the page and the diagrams. If it's less important, I make an outline in my brain and it takes a picture of that. Yeah, I know it's weird, but it works for me.

My mind is very photographic...If I'm learning something and was thinking about something at the same time. When it's time for me to repeat the information, whatever scene was in my head will come into play. This helped me a lot in the middle of tests and it's weird, but very beneficial.

wow i envy you guys
is there a way to train yourself to have photographic memory? or is it just like, a gift?

I have both a good and photographic memory.

The photographic memory helps because I can pick up any math or spanish concept the moment we learn it.

Of course, for everything else, I have to do some review to make sure I know all the other material. That's where a good memory comes in handy.

I find that one problem with photographic memory is that it is hard to discipline. I may recall the most arcane and trivial fact from years ago, but encounter problems when having to memorize a short text on demand. It seems easier to recall "stuff" than to store the data properly. :)

I know they have books on photographic reading, but I can't seem to grasp it, it is kind of weird.

I think many of you confuse having a photographic memory with having a good memory. :P Since only 1/10,000 people actually have one...

Yeah, despite what Harvard says, I'm fairly positive I do, I can view precisely what happened at points, this helps me with history and of course, things like vocab tests, I look at the definitions for like 2min. before the tests and get a 100.

I'm pretty sure I have photographic memory, because I don't have good memory. I have to write things in my planner to remember to do even basic stuff. My photographic memory helps me in history, vocabulary, books, and spanish vocabulary. But, it doesn't help me in math related courses, because that requires an actual deep understanding that goes beyond just memory. I've trained my memory to remember stuff for certain periods of time, for example I had to memorize all the plants latin names ( I know I will not be needing that in the future), so I kept that snap shot of the information in my brain until the test, and promply made myself forget it, so that I can have more storage in my brain for more important stuff to photographically remember.

holy crap. photographic memory....thats crazy. I'm visual, but I can't take a mental photograph of a page and remember it for tests. I envy you guys so much.

photographic memory here... usually to the point where i can remember where an exact phrase was on the page. very useful for essays (quote hunting...)

I have no memory. Is that bad? butterfly

do any of u guys take notes in class?

I take notes in class. It helps me at times when doing my homework. I just look back at the notes . Or else I'd have to find it in a textbook.

I guess I got shafted. I wish I had photographic memory, or even a good memory...

I have an excellent SHORT TERM memory..ie I can also look at lists of words, or paragraphs for a few minutes..remember them for a test and then forget them almost immediately..came in handy in college but then I cant remember anything now!

I also have a gift when it comes to reading..I grew up with books and no TV (lived overseas) so I learned to read pages at a time. I sort of see the entire page and read it at once..if that makes sense.
Unless its difficult material..then I read alot slower, paragraph by paragraph.
As a result I can easily go through 2-3 books an evening. I read only non-fiction on a variety of topics.

I wish I grew up with no tv, My Mind has been currupted...

I grew up with tv, and I can read pages at a time. The books were much more interesting than the T.V. (except for the show Sailor Moon)

I don't think I have a real photographic memory, but I have a decent normal memory.

I can, however, remember where on a page I read something...but rarely what page it was on.
