pre med student here, confused on whether to take phys 201 or 221. I can manage calc/physics, but I havent taken either in a while and they aren't my favorite things. The grade distributions for honors phys221 are much better than those of phys 201...

Also the honors 221 has, ive been told, doesnt have many labs at all.

Has anybody had Radovan Dermisek (phys 201 prof)? He has really good reviews on ratemyprofessor and his grade distributions are better than most phys 201 teachers.

any help or anecdotes are appreciated

I’d personally recommend 201, but that’s just me. I’m not sure what other classes you’re taking, but P221 combined with orgo and other science classes might be a bit adventurous. The labs aren’t take home for P201, you don’t do anything for them outside of class so if that’s something your’e concerned about, don’t worry.

When I took P201, the exams were 20 questions multiple choice no partial credit. While yes, that is intimidating and crappy, P201 does operate on an expanded grading scale. That means that the lowest A was an 80 or 85, lowest B was like a 65, etc etc. The same applied for P202 and I “failed” every exam but still got a B+ in the class.
