Phys 201 and Orgo 2

I'm signed up for Phys 201 with Dermisek and Orgo 2 this upcoming semester. Kinda worried that it may be a bit too much, does anybody have some input on Phys 201?

I haven't had a physics class since high school and I'm wondering how hard it is to do well in 201. The grade distribution looks a little harsh, but as expected.

Any help or anecdotes are appreciated

DS1 and some of his friends are going for C342, P221, and S343/C343. P201 is easier than P221. It should be doable as long as you work hard.

In terms of P201, it’s not THAT hard to do well, especially if you’d seen a lot of the friction, rotational motion, etc. equations before. The homework you get unlimited tries on all questions (done online), you can’t take the lab notebooks out of the lab, and although the exams are multiple choice/no partial credit and only out of 20 points, the class has a hugely expanded grading scale. I think the lowest A- was an 85, lowest B- was like a 65 or 70, lowest C- was a 55, etc. etc.

Thanks for the responses. I think my main worry is just the fact that I haven’t seen physics in a while.
Ace, if your son is a rising soph, that’s a pretty packed schedule. (I’m pushing 343 to second semester) I’ve heard 343 is a huuugggeee time commitment, but sounds like he can handle it.

I did well in Orgo 1 last semester because it was my only real “tough” class. Now I have two

Soccergurl did u have Dermisek too? Or are pretty much 201 tests like that. 20 MC seems rough

I had Beggs, but I’ve heard great things about who you have. The tests could potentially be different, but everyone I know in P201/202 has had the same setup. It sucks, but since physics is so equation based, you either get the right answer or you don’t.
