Physical Aptitude Examination?

My D received information from the AFA on Sat. In the brochure it listed a Physical Aptitude Examination test. This test listed Pull-ups (for men but not women), Flexed-arm hang (for women only), Standing long jump, Modified basketball throw, push-ups and 300 yard shuttle run.

I’m confused, I thought that potential cadets had to pass another fitness test, the CFA, I think? It seemed that it had different things on it, including a mile run and did not include a standing long jump.

My D has reservations that she could long jump 5’8", the min. on the PAE. But she is pretty confident that she could preform well on the CFA requirements that we saw on this forum.

Could someone tell me which test she would be required to pass? If it is the PAE, any suggestions for the standing long jump?

The PAE has been replaced by the CFA. The brochure must be out of date.

The requirements for the CFA is listed in the USAFA Catalog.

The CFA includes: basketball throw, cadence pull-ups, shuttle run, modified sit-ups, push-ups, and a one mile run.

Thank you. I wonder why the AFA mailed a brochure which has outdated information.

Make sure your daughter learns to jump well. It is not on the CFA, but it is on the PFT that cadets take twice a year.

It's all in technique, and running or doing squats/leg exercises regularly will give her the muscle needed.
