Hello all, my son was diagnosed with a progressive disease that affects his lower legs and feet. He is a strong student, current GPA (junior) is 4.2. Cold, icy weather is hard due to his balance issues. Looking for a smallish campus, mild climate, with strong athletics (he would love to attend b ball, football games) Also, private bath would be ideal since he has to sit while showering. Thanks for any and all advice…
Davidson, Rhodes, Hendrix?
Unweighted GPA? Test scores? Prospective major? Any extracurriculars that are important to have, other than spectator sports?
Based only on what you said so far, Wake Forest springs to mind.
Need cost constraints, SAT scores and major interest but Rollins, Furman, Wofford, or College of Charleston come to mind.
Look on these lists - although your son is not a wheelchair-user, colleges on this list might be better at providing a workable bath facility and should be good at handling other accessibility issues. . Both warm and cold-weather schools on these lists, but places with mild winters on the lists include Berkeley, USC, Texas A&M, University of Houston, University of Arizona, and Stanford.
